State Approval for Coronary Calcium Screening

Posted on: 01/14/2008

Kansas City Imaging Center has recently received Kansas state approval for Coronary Calcium Screening and is one of only a few institutions in the state to gain that approval.
A calcium score is performed on a multi-detector CT scanner which generates a score that relates to the amount of atherosclerotic calcification in the arteries that supply blood to your heart muscle.  The greater the amount of calcium, the greater your score and the greater your risk for a cardiac event.  A detailed report, including your score, risks and further recommendations is provided at the conclusion of the test.
As this is a state approved screening exam, strict guidelines apply.  A written order from your doctor is not required.  Please call KCIC at 913-667-5600 to see if you qualify for this exam.
