Not all MRI scanners are created equal!  This point was made very clear in an article that was published in the New York Times. The article describes the experience of patients who underwent an MRI scan, only to be told that there was nothing wrong.  However, follow-up MRI scans both revealed abnormalities not indicated by the initial studies.  The extreme differences in the diagnosis were due to the variation in quality of different MRI scanners in the community.  Also discussed is the importance of who reads your MRI, indicating it is best interpreted by a radiologist with special training and day-to-day experience in that specific body part. It is hard for a patient to be certain of the type of imaging care they are receiving.  At KCIC, however, we can assure you that our MRI scanner uses up-to-date technology, and provides images which are second to none.  We also stand by our reports, as your studies are read by specialized radiologists, with extra training or experience in the necessary area.  If you have any questions concerning our MR scanner or our radiologists, please give us a call at 913-667-5600.
